A Wedding Day Filled With Family, Faith & the Places That Mean the Most
Some wedding days are beautiful because of the flowers, the details, and the venue.
And then there are wedding days that are beautiful because every part of them tells a story.
Kim & John’s September 5th, 2026 wedding day in Fremont, Wisconsin was exactly that.
From their ceremony at Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont to sentimental portraits at their family home along the Wolf River, followed by a fun-filled celebration at Fremont River Deck, their wedding day was filled with family, meaning, laughter, and so many little moments that made the day uniquely theirs.
As a Fremont, Wisconsin wedding photographer, these are the wedding days I love most—the ones where the photographs aren't simply about what the day looked like, but about what the day felt like.
Starting the Day With Faith & Family
Kim & John began their wedding day at Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont, Wisconsin, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
There is something incredibly special about getting married in a church surrounded by family and friends. The anticipation, the emotions, the happy tears, and those quiet moments before walking down the aisle all become part of the story.
And when you're surrounded by the people who have watched your relationship grow, those moments carry even more meaning.
Kim & John’s ceremony was the beginning of a day that would continue to unfold in some very personal places.
The Wolf River: Where Their Wedding Story Became Personal
After the ceremony, we headed to Kim & John’s family home on the Wolf River for portraits.
And this wasn't just another beautiful location.
It was home.
That made the portraits there especially meaningful.
One of my favorite parts of their day was photographing Kim & John on the stone bench at their family home.
There are certain locations that become part of a family's history. A place where people sit, talk, laugh, remember, and make new memories.
That stone bench was one of those places.
Photographing Kim & John there on their wedding day wasn't just about creating a pretty portrait. It was about documenting their relationship in a place that already held so much sentimental value.
Those are the photographs that become more meaningful as the years go by.
Years from now, they'll be able to look at that image and remember not only how they looked on their wedding day, but where they were, who they were surrounded by, and what that place meant to their family.
And honestly?
That's the good stuff.
Wedding Portraits With a Little Wisconsin Magic
There is something about September in Wisconsin that makes wedding portraits extra special.
The comfortable temperatures, the beautiful natural surroundings, and the gorgeous scenery along the Wolf River created a beautiful backdrop for Kim & John’s portraits.
But the scenery was never the most important part.
Kim & John were.
My goal as a wedding photographer is always to create portraits that feel like you—not overly posed, stiff, or uncomfortable.
I want you to remember how your spouse looked at you.
The way you laughed together.
The way you held hands.
The little moments between the big moments.
Those are the images that tell your story.
Celebrating at Fremont River Deck
After portraits, it was time to celebrate!
Kim & John’s reception was held at Fremont River Deck, a beautiful Wisconsin wedding reception location right along the water in Fremont.
After a meaningful ceremony and sentimental portraits at home, the reception brought everyone together for an evening of celebrating the newlyweds.
There was good food, beautiful cake, music, dancing, family, friends, and plenty of reasons to raise a glass to Kim & John.
And of course, Sound Sensations kept the celebration moving throughout the evening!
The Details That Made Their Day Theirs
Every wedding has the big moments, but it's the little details that help bring a couple's personality and story into the day.
Kim & John’s wedding vendors helped bring everything together beautifully.
The Kim & John Wedding Vendor Team
Wedding Ceremony: Hope United Church of Christ — Fremont, Wisconsin
Reception: Fremont River Deck
Catering: Biebel's Catering
Cake: Manderfield’s & Costco
Florist: Me — prayers appreciated! 😂
DJ: Sound Sensations
Hair: Madalyn Lehr for my hair — and me for hopefully one of the girls!
Makeup: Kate Charles
Gown: Sherbon
Suits: Men's Wearhouse

And I have to give a special shoutout to the bride for taking on the florist duties herself!
Because apparently being the bride wasn't enough—you needed to add florist to the job description too. 😂
And the hair situation?
Madalyn Lehr handled the bride's hair, while the bride herself was hoping to get one of the girls ready.
I absolutely love when wedding days have those personal, DIY touches because they make the day feel even more like the couple.
A Wedding Day Full of the Moments That Matter
When I look back at Kim & John’s wedding day, I don't just think about one portrait, one location, or one part of the celebration.
I think about the story.
I think about a couple saying "I do" at Hope United Church of Christ.
I think about their family home on the Wolf River.
I think about that sentimental stone bench.
I think about the people who surrounded them.
I think about everyone gathering at Fremont River Deck to celebrate.
And I think about how incredibly special it is when a wedding day allows you to incorporate the places and people that have been part of your story long before the wedding day ever arrived.
Because that's what wedding photography should do.
It should preserve more than what your wedding looked like.
It should preserve what it felt like.
