A Little Adventure Before “I Do” | Brooke & Ryan’s Appleton Engagement Session

For Brooke and Ryan, their engagement session at Bubolz Nature Preserve in Appleton, Wisconsin was a little bit of all of that.

Surrounded by trails, tall trees, and the natural beauty of Northeast Wisconsin, these two had the kind of session that reminds me why I love photographing couples in places that allow them to simply be themselves.

One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is that they don't have to feel like a photoshoot.

You don't have to know exactly what to do with your hands. You don't have to be perfectly posed every second. And you definitely don't have to spend the entire session looking at the camera.

Instead, I want my couples to walk, talk, laugh, snuggle, explore, and enjoy each other.

That's what makes the photos meaningful.

Bubolz Nature Preserve was the perfect setting for Brooke and Ryan because there were so many opportunities to move around and let the session unfold naturally. The trails and wooded surroundings created beautiful variety while keeping the focus where it belongs — on the two of them.
